Since 1982, The New Jersey Community College Counselors' Association has as its primary purpose, the promotion of professional development of counselors throughout New Jersey's 19 community colleges and related educational institutions.

The New Jersey Community College Counselors Association promotes professionalism among community college counselors in the following ways:
- Advocacy of Professional Counseling
- State-Wide Networking.
- Research Projects Related to Professional Issues
- Counselor Recognition Activities
New Jersey Community College Counselor Association has been approved by National Board for Certified Counselors as an Approved Continuing Education Provider, ACEP No. 5038. Programs that do not qualify for National Board for Certified Counselors credit are clearly identified. NJ3C is solely responsible for all aspects of the programs.
